Teaira McCowan and Natasha Cloud led the WNBA in technical fouls during the 2024 season with seven.

Caitlin Clark, Diana Taurasi, and Kahleah Copper all finished in a tie for third with six technicals.

How Many Technicals Can a WNBA Player Receive Before Suspension?

A player will be suspended for one game after earning their eighth technical foul in a season. The penalty used to be set at seven games, but was increased when the schedule grew to 44 games in 2025.

McCowan and Cloud were both suspended for one game in 2024. Both players earned their seventh foul in September of last year.

Before that, a player hadn’t received seven or more technical fouls in a season since Skylar Diggins earned eight in 2022.
