Who Will Win WNBA MVP in 2025?
Now that she’s returned from injury, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier is the clear betting favorite to win the 2025 WNBA MVP trophy. Her -1200 price tag implies a 92.31% chance of claiming the award. She has been the betting favorite in this market since late May.
Before Collier’s return, it appeared as if the WNBA MVP race was heating up.
A’ja Wilson, who opened as the betting favorite after winning her third MVP last year, fueled a double-digit game win streak for the Las Vegas Aces. They are suddenly competing for a top-two seed after an underwhelming start to the year.
Alyssa Thomas, meanwhile, is thriving in her first season with the Phoenix Mercury. She has recorded seven triple-doubles this season, building on her commanding lead on the list of players with the most triple-doubles in WNBA history. No other player has more than four in their career.
Of course, Collier destroyed any chance of a competitive race when she returned from injury on Aug. 24. Collier poured in 32 points in a win over the Indiana Fever. She continues to have the strongest case as the best player on the best team in the league, with the Lynx well above the pack for the No. 1 seed.
The only concern with Collier’s MVP campaign is that she has missed 10 games. No MVP winner has missed more than five contests in the history of the league.
Personally, I don’t think voters will hold that against Collier in the MVP race. However, I do see them using it as an excuse to vote for someone else for Defensive Player of the Year.
At this point in the season, here is what my MVP ballot would look like:
- First place: Napheesa Collier
- Second place: A’ja Wilson
- Third place: Alyssa Thomas
Prediction: Napheesa Collier
