- The Fever are 7.5-point favorites against the Sky on Saturday.
- My Sky vs. Fever prediction backs Angel Reese's assist prop.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will kick off their season with a matchup against the Chicago Sky at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on ABC.
Per the updated WNBA odds, Indiana is a solid favorite to start 1-0 against Chicago. While that’s a fair projection, my Sky vs. Fever prediction believes Chicago’s Angel Reese will play a role in Saturday’s showdown.
Sky vs. Fever Odds
- Sky spread: +7.5
- Fever spread: -7.5
- Total: 168.5
Sky vs. Fever Prediction & Best Bet
Based on the updated WNBA betting lines, I’m backing over 2.5 assists (-135) for Reese in Saturday’s Sky vs. Fever matchup.
First-year coach Tyler Marsh has been tasked with solving the spacing issues of the Sky’s frontcourt pairing between Kamilla Cardoso and Reese. Marsh appears to be leaning more toward putting Reese on the ball.
Reese dished five assists in her final preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx last Saturday. She flashed this creativity in college, but her WNBA coaches have taken note of it entering her second season.
After averaging 1.9 assists per game as a rookie, I expect Reese to improve that clip in this new system. Saturday’s matchup against Indiana could be a good test, as the Fever ranked sixth in defensive rating last season.
Head coach Stephanie White plans to improve Indiana’s defense, but I don’t expect that to be solved in Game 1. This could be a good opportunity for Reese to leave her mark in the latest edition of this rivalry.
Prediction: Angel Reese over 2.5 assists (-135)
