Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas has a commanding lead as the player with the most triple-doubles in WNBA history.

Thomas has 23 triple-doubles and counting in her career. She recorded her 23rd triple-double during a Game 3 win over the New York Liberty, finishing with a stat line of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. It marked her fifth career playoff triple-double and comes after she notched seven triple-doubles during the 2025 regular season.

No other WNBA player has more than four career triple-doubles. There have been a total of 56 triple-doubles between the regular season and postseason in WNBA history.

Who Was the First WNBA Player to Record a Triple-Double?

Sheryl Swoopes recorded the first triple-double in WNBA history on July 27, 1999. Swoopes finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists to help lift the Houston Comets to an 85-46 win over the Detroit Shock.

Swoopes also notched the first triple-double in the playoffs, posting 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a win over the Seattle Storm in Game 3 of the 2005 Western Conference semifinals.

How Many WNBA Rookies Have Recorded a Triple-Double?

Caitlin Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to secure a triple-double. Clark tallied 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists in a win over the New York Liberty on July 6.

Clark registered two triple-doubles during her rookie campaign with the Fever, indicating she could climb up this leaderboard in the coming seasons.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese became the second-youngest player to record a triple-double, doing so in her sophomore season at 23 years and 40 days old. Reese finished with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in a win over the Connecticut Sun on June 15.
