  • Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejčíková are the Wimbledon defending champions.
  • The women’s draw has had a new winner for seven consecutive years.
  • Aryna Sabalenka, the current women’s favorite, has never won Wimbledon.

The four grand slam tournaments are the biggest spectacles in professional tennis, and Wimbledon is arguably the biggest attraction of them all.

As one of the oldest sports competitions running, there is a certain grace and prestige conferred to the winners at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Players typically wear all-white outfits.

“Lawn tennis” isn’t just an empty phrase at Wimbledon. The playing surface is grass – an uncommon style of court in a sport where most tournaments are played on hardcourt or dirt.

The slick nature of a grass court results in a very fast brand of tennis. It’s a surface that rewards speed, athleticism, and accurate first serves. Aces are common.

While Carlos Alcaraz is considered a clear favorite on the men’s side in 2025, the women’s tournament has been much more open in recent years. For now, Aryna Sabalenka is the favorite, but she’s never reached the championship match.

For anyone considering the tennis lines in BetMGM’s futures market, this historical data on past winners at Wimbledon may help develop a betting strategy.
