Given Silva’s more technical and refined striking, I predict that he will win via unanimous decision. His top-notch counterstriking abilities could allow him to land the cleaner and stronger punches during the match.

The bout promises excitement between two knockout artists, yet Silva’s calculated approach could make the difference. Though Lopes has one-punch knockout power, he tends to let his guard down when throwing punches, making him susceptible to counterstrikes.

This could be costly for him, especially with the top-calibre striking and power of Silva. Alexander Volknovski perfectly exploited this defensive lapse from Lopes during their championship fight at UFC 314 to land significant strikes at the end of every exchange.

If Silva replicates this during this match, he has a better chance of putting Lopes out. But because of his toughness, durability, and granite chin, it’s more likely that the fight would go the distance and go on full five rounds.

Lopes was a former Lux Fight League champion in 2021 before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series. However, he was defeated by Joanderson Brito in the competition, which delayed his arrival under the Las Vegas-based promotion.

After winning two of his next three fights outside the UFC, Lopes finally earned a roster spot and made his promotional debut against Movsar Evloev at UFC 288 in May 2023. He received a rude welcome with a unanimous decision loss.

Silva defeated Charles Jourdain in his UFC debut in June 2024, before he added Drew Dober, Melsik Baghdasaryan, and, most recently, Bryce Mitchell to his pile of wins. This impressive run earned him a spot in the 145-pound rankings.
