  • The women’s strawweight match between Amanda Lemos and Virna Jandiroba headlines the UFC card this weekend.
  • Both are coming off wins from their previous fights.
  • Lemos is the +120 betting underdog, and Jandiroba is the -140 favorite.

The MMA action shifts back to the APEX Center in Las Vegas this weekend as ranked women’s strawweight contenders Amanda Lemos and Virna Jandiroba face each other in a pivotal match that could potentially produce the next title challenger.

The BetMGM online sportsbook sees Jandiroba as the -140 betting favorite in this all-Brazilian showdown because she’s currently riding a three-fight win streak dating back to May 2022 and has more stoppage wins than Lemos.

On the other hand, Lemos takes on the underdog role with +120 UFC odds. She has only won three of her last five fights, including a defeat to reigning UFC women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili.

Amanda Lemos Recent Fight Results

Lemos debuted in the UFC in July 2017 and received a second-round defeat from Leslie Smith. But she bounced back immediately and strung five straight victories together to earn a spot in the top five rankings. Jessica Andrade snapped her streak in April 2022.

After that second octagon defeat, Lemos beat Michelle Waterson-Gomez in July 2022 and Marina Rodriguez in November 2022 to earn a shot against Weili’s title. However, the Brazilian slugger was turned back by Weili with a unanimous decision defeat in August. “Amandinha” kept her place in the rankings with a bounce-back victory against Mackenzie Dern in her fight in February at UFC 298.

Virna Jandiroba Recent Fight Results

Carla Esparza rudely welcomed Jandiroba during her UFC debut in April 2019 with a unanimous decision loss. But that didn’t deter her from earning a spot in the rankings, as she won three of her next five fights.

Presently, “Carcara” is on a three-fight win streak after beating Angela Hill (in May 2022 via unanimous decision), Marina Rodriguez (in May 2023 via unanimous decision), and Loopy Godínez (in March via unanimous decision) to cement her place in the top rankings of the 115-pound division.

Amanda Lemos vs. Virna Jandiroba: Fight Analysis

The tale of the tape shows that Lemos has an inch of height and reach advantage over Jandiroba, with a 9% higher finish rate. But Jandiroba will enjoy an inch of leg reach edge against her compatriot.

But the biggest difference between the two is their fighting style. Lemos has a boxing base, while Jandiroba’s main arsenal is Brazilian jiu-jitsu. This upcoming clash will once again feature a classic striker versus grappler match.

Lemos’ ideal fight plan is to keep the fight on its feet and prevent Jandiroba from getting her down the canvas. This will give her the best chance to showcase her crisp boxing combinations and display the power that helped her stop eight of her 14 opponents from the past.

Meanwhile, Jandiroba should time her takedown attempts perfectly and drag Lemos down the mat, grappling and maneuvering into a submission victory. This method has won her 70% of her victories.

Heading into the match, I think Jandiroba’s three-fight win streak will be a factor as she will carry that momentum against Lemos. Additionally, Jandiroba hasn’t experienced a stoppage loss in her professional career, which speaks to her toughness and grit. She will surely double down on her grappling superiority and eventually get the submission win.

Official Prediction: Submission victory over Virna Jandiroba.
