Former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is back in action on Nov. 15 in the main card of UFC 322, as he’s set to face the No. 9-ranked contender Carlos Prates inside Madison Square Garden in New York.

After dropping his previous fight, Edwards will be the betting underdog with +170 UFC odds, while Prates, who’s fresh off a bounce back victory last August, is going to be the -210 betting favorite.

UFC 322: Leon Edwards vs. Carlos Prates Odds

  • Leon Edwards: +170
  • Carlos Prates: -210

UFC 322: Leon Edwards vs. Carlos Prates: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO finish for Prates over Edwards because he has more weapons in his striking arsenal and thrives in chaotic moments. Additionally, the Brazilian will have the reach advantage, which comes in handy in their exchanges on the feet.

Prates is a very diverse striker who enjoys mixing up his attack. His Muay Thai and kickboxing background allows him to flow with his opponents and catch them off guard with several combinations.

Meanwhile, Edwards is a technical and very calculated fighter. He always sticks to the fight plan and doesn’t overextend when throwing his kicks and punches. However, the former UFC welterweight champion is uncomfortable when he’s pressed forward.

In this matchup of two feared strikers, I think that Prates will use his signature knee strike to the body of Edwards. Once he’s hurt, Prates will go for the finish, rain down several more punches, and end the fight in under two rounds.

Leon Edwards’ Recent Fight Results

Edwards was a former MMA national champion in England when he was signed by the UFC in 2014. He received a setback in his octagon debut with a split decision loss to Claudio Silva, but he redeemed himself and recorded 11 wins in his next 13 matches.

This impressive run earned him a title shot against Kamaru Usman in August 2022, and he knocked him out in the fifth round to capture the belt. Edwards defended the belt twice before losing his two previous bouts to Belal Muhammad and Sean Brady.

Carlos Prates’ Recent Fight Results

Prates was a standout in other MMA organizations before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2023, where he scored a second-round stoppage win over Mitch Ramirez to earn a roster spot with the Las Vegas-based promotion.

In his six UFC fights, he recorded five finishes against Trevin Giles, Charles Radtke, Li Jianliang, Neil Magny, and, most recently, Geoff Neal. His lone UFC loss was courtesy of Ian Machado Garry, who handed him a unanimous decision defeat in April.
