Reigning undisputed UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will defend his crown for the third time on Oct. 4 against the No. 4 contender Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event of the UFC 320 card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Because of his 13-fight win streak and three successful title defenses, Dvalishvili heads into the match as the betting favorite with -360 UFC odds. Meanwhile, the challenger, who won his previous match last May, will be the betting underdog with +275 odds.

UFC 320: Dvalishvili vs. Sandhagen: Prediction
I predict that Dvalishvili will win via submission within three rounds against Sandhagen because of his relentless wrestling and grappling skills. This will perfectly neutralize Sandhagen’s creative striking skills.
It’s going to be a battle of styles, with Dvalishvili being the superior grappler and Sandhagen being the more skillful striker. But I’ll still favor Dvalishvili’s wrestling because he has proved that he can take out the best strikers in the division with key victories against Sean O’Malley, Jose Aldo, Marlon Moraes, and John Dodson.
Furthermore, Dvalishvili recently revealed that he now prefers to finish his opponents instead of just mauling and rag-dolling them throughout the fight. According to him, it’ll solidify his place as one of the best UFC bantamweight champions in history.
Another factor why I think Sandhagen won’t get the victory against Dvalishvili is his inability to finish opponents with one shot. I believe that the only way to stop “The Machine” is through a one-shot that can change the complexity of a match, whilst “The Sandman” relies on combinations to rock his opponents.
Merab Dvalishvili’s Recent Fight Results
Dvalishvili was a former ROC champion and was signed by the UFC in 2017. He made his promotional debut against Frank Saenz, but was defeated via split decision. He was then submitted by Ricky Simon in his second UFC fight in April 2018.
But following those back-to-back losses inside the octagon, the Georgian MMA superstar went on a 10-fight win streak to earn his shot for the UFC bantamweight title against O’Malley in February 2024 at UFC 306, where he unanimously beat him.
Dvalishvili continued his reign as the undisputed king of the weight class with two successful defenses against Umar Nurmagomedov last January at UFC 311 and most recently, against O’Malley in a championship rematch at UFC 316, where he submitted him in the third round.
Cory Sandhagen’s Recent Fight Results
Sandhagen was a highly touted prospect when he joined the UFC in 2018. He immediately became a relevant name in the bantamweight division, as he won his first five bouts under the Las Vegas-based promotion.
His first UFC loss came at the hands of Aljamain Sterling in June 2020 when he was submitted in the opening round. Since then, he won six of his next nine matches, as his most recent victory came against Deiveson Figueiredo last May with a second-round TKO finish.
