The middleweight match between Abus Magomedov and Joe Pyfer will be the opener of the UFC 320 main card on Oct. 4, as the event will take place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Because he fought tougher opponents in the past and due to his recent resurgence, Pyfer heads into the match as the betting favorite with -250 UFC odds. On the other hand, Magomedov, who’s currently on a three-fight win streak, will be the betting underdog with +250 odds.

UFC 320: Magomedov vs. Pyfer: Prediction
I predict that Magomedov can secure a unanimous decision victory over Pyfer because of his significantly deeper offensive skill set compared to the American contender. This can give Pyfer different looks throughout the match and keep him guessing.
The German MMA star throws a variety of combinations on the feet and can perfectly time level changes to secure a takedown against his opponents. Pyfer primarily looks for the perfect counterpunch to land his powerful punch.
If Magomedov can put pressure on Pyfer and push him against the fence early, timing a level change, I think he can earn his respect and would be hesitant to strike because of the constant threat of a takedown, which can drain significant energy and neutralize his boxing.
Furthermore, Pyfer has shown vulnerability in his cardio, swinging strong punches but not landing them. This gives him a problem with his gas tank. As the match progresses, Magomedov can capitalize in the latter rounds.
Abus Magomedov’s Recent Fight Results
Magomedov was already a seasoned MMA pro athlete when he joined the UFC in 2022. He had a successful promotional debut as he finished Dustin Stoltzfus in under 20 seconds. However, he failed to keep momentum after back-to-back losses to Sean Strickland and Caio Borralho.
Following those setbacks, he was able to bounce back and went on a three-fight win streak with victories against Warlley Alves, Brunno Ferreira, and Michel Pereira in his most recent triumph last April.
Joe Pyfer’s Recent Fight Results
Pyfer was a former ROC champion before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2020. Stoltzfus spoiled his first attempt to earn a UFC contract as he sustained a first-round stoppage loss in their DWCS fight.
This forced him to fight outside the UFC. After one victory, he returned to Dana White’s Contender Series and defeated Ozzy Diaz via second-round stoppage to finally secure a roster spot with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
In his first bouts inside the octagon, Pyfer suffered only one loss to Jack Hermansson and scored victories against Alen Amedovski, Gerald Meerschaert, Abdul Razak Alhassan, Marc-Andre Barriault, and Kelvin Gastelum.
