Alexander Volkanovski became a two-time UFC featherweight champion at UFC 314 on April 12 when he unanimously beat Diego Lopes in the card’s main event match inside Kaseya Center in Miami.
The Australian MMA superstar defied the UFC odds and became the first fighter in the promotion’s history to win a championship in the 155-pound division and below. Furthermore, this incredible match with Lopes earned Volkanovski an additional $50,000 for the Fight of the Night Honors.
Aside from Volkanovski and Lopes, other fighters who received the $50,000 bonus for the Performance of the Night award were Paddy Pimblett, who TKO’ed Michael Chandler in the co-main event and Jean Silva, who submitted Bryce Mitchell in the second round of their featherweight clash.
