Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

See the latest EPL odds, picks, and predictions for Tottenham vs Wolves ahead of their matchup on September 27.
  • Tottenham is predicted to be a -1.5-goal home favorite against Wolves.
  • Wolves has lost the first half in each of its last nine EPL matches.
  • My Tottenham vs Wolves prediction depends on Tottenham’s starting lineup.

After a come-from-behind result against Brighton, Tottenham returns home to face last-place Wolves.

Thomas Frank’s side found itself down 2-0 inside half an hour at the Amex. However, Tottenham came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw and move to 4-1 ATS on the season.

Wolves started well against Leeds, gaining a 1-0 advantage inside 10 minutes. However, three unanswered goals left Vitor Pereira’s side losers for a fifth straight league match.

Wolves vs Tottenham: Prediction

Depending on Tottenham’s starting XI for Saturday’s fixture, my Tottenham vs Wolves prediction is the Tottenham 1H Moneyline (-110).

A prediction for this match rests on whether Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero start in central defense for Tottenham.

From a matchup standpoint, the fixture represents a great spot for the hosts. However, Tottenham faces a Wednesday-Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday schedule.

A home match against Doncaster on Wednesday offers a good chance for Frank to rest key personnel. Just to be sure, I’ll wait for lineups on Saturday before a final prediction.

Wolves have conceded at least one first-half goal in all five league matches this year. Dating back to last year, Pereira’s side has lost the first half in nine straight.

Defensively, Wolves offered quality chances early to their opponents this year. Through five matches, Wolves allowed 1.51 post-shot expected goals in the first half, per fotmob.com.

In four of those five matches, opponents created at least 1.4.

Tottenham, meanwhile, has scored a first-half goal in four of five this season. A first-half tally has also occurred in 18 of Tottenham’s last 19 home matches.

Bettors caught a glimpse of Tottenham’s strength as a home favorite earlier this year. As favorites against Burnley, Tottenham led 1-0 at halftime while dominating the metrics.

By post-shot expected goals, Tottenham captured a 1.07-0.37 post-shot xG edge at halftime.

Given Wolves’ poor defensive record early, Pereira’s side likely needs to score early in order to deny Tottenham a halftime lead.

Pereira’s side has failed to achieve that feat on the road yet this year. Since January, Wolves have managed a road first-half goal only four times in 11 matches.

Accordingly, I prefer Tottenham to gain a halftime advantage, assuming a full-strength lineup.
