Tottenham vs. Manchester United Prediction, Odds & Preview

  • Tottenham is a -0.5-goal home favorite against Manchester United.
  • The underdog has won each of Manchester United's last three EPL matches.
  • My Tottenham vs. Manchester United prediction focuses on the team totals.

The marquee fixture of EPL Matchday 24 sees struggling Tottenham host Manchester United.

Tottenham sits 14th in the table but earned a 2-0 win over Brentford in their last match. However, two Cup losses dashed Tottenham’s hopes at a trophy since that win.

Manchester United fell 2-0 in their last Premier League match against Crystal Palace. The good news for United? They’ve earned points in three straight as road underdogs in the league.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Tottenham vs. Manchester United prediction.

Tottenham vs. Manchester United Prediction

Based on Tottenham’s returning attacking personnel and United’s weak defense, my Tottenham vs. Manchester United prediction is Tottenham Over 1.5 Goals (-135).

It appears as though Spurs will return Brennan Johnson and James Maddison to the lineup on Sunday. Additionally, wingers Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner also could return.

That’s going to bolster an attack that dominated Manchester United in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

Although two of three goals came after a United red card, Spurs created 1.99 expected goals and 1.6 post-shot xG in the first half alone.

These teams also met in the EFL Cup a few weeks ago, with Spurs scoring four goals off 2.2 post-shot expected goals.

That marks five straight head-to-head meetings in which Tottenham cleared 1.5 goals against United, which lost key central defender Lisandro Martinez against Palace.

Plus, for all of Tottenham’s issues this season, it’s largely because of a weak defense.

Spurs sit sixth in non-penalty expected goals per 90 and eighth in post-shot expected goals, per fbref.com.

Conversely, Manchester United ranks 13th in non-penalty xGA per 90 and 10th in post-shot xGA.

Lastly, under new manager Ruben Amorim, United have played 11 league matches. In those 11 fixtures, they’ve kept only three teams under this number with a solitary clean sheet.

As a result, lay the juice with Spurs to clear 1.5 goals at home, a feat they’ve achieved in seven of 12 home matches.
