- Newcastle is predicted to be a -1.5-goal home favorite against Ipswich Town.
- Newcastle United has won seven straight EPL matches against promoted teams.
- My Newcastle vs. Ipswich Town prediction is Newcastle over 2.5 goals.
Following a blowout defeat at Aston Villa, Newcastle returns home for a meeting with Ipswich Town.
In the absence of manager Eddie Howe, Newcastle fell 4-1 at Aston Villa last weekend. That ended a six-game winning streak in all competitions for Newcastle.
Ipswich Town struggled at home on Matchday 33, losing 4-0 to Arsenal. The loss all but guarantees relegation for Ipswich, which sits 15 points from safety with five to play.
Check out the Premier League odds and my Newcastle vs. Ipswich Town prediction.

Ipswich Town vs Newcastle: Prediction
Based on Newcastle’s strong attacking record after a bad loss and Ipswich Town’s weak defense, my Newcastle vs Ipswich Town prediction is Newcastle Over 2.5 Goals (-130).
This season, Newcastle have thoroughly dominated the three weakest defenses in the league.
Save for their one-goal output against Southampton on Matchday 1 – Newcastle played down a man for an hour – they’ve cleared this number in four straight against promoted teams.
What’s even more impressive about that output is that three straight have come away from home. When Newcastle traveled to Ipswich Town, they scored four goals.
But there are two matches within that sample worth examining closely: at home to Leicester on Matchday 16 and at Southampton on Matchday 23.
Both followed losses for Newcastle after allowing four goals in a defeat. In those two matches, Newcastle notched seven goals off 6.7 expected goals and seven post-shot xG.
Dating back to last season, Newcastle closed as a market favorite six times off allowing a four-plus goal output. They’re 6-0 to over 2.5 goals over that span.
Irrespective of opponents, Ipswich Town allowed at least three goals in 10 games this season. Six of those occurrences have occurred since January 19.
Against teams fifth or better in expected goals, Ipswich allowed three or more goals four times in nine matches, with all but two teams reaching two goals.
As a result, I like Newcastle running rampant on Saturday at home after a poor result.
