Man United vs West Ham Prediction & Odds

  • Man United is predicted to be a -0.5-goal home favorite against West Ham.
  • Manchester United has lost four of its last five EPL Sunday matches as a favorite.
  • My Man United vs. West Ham prediction is the West Ham moneyline.

Two EPL bottomfeeders meet on Sunday at Old Trafford as Manchester United hosts West Ham United.

Neither side achieved a positive result on Matchday 35. The Red Devils lost 4-3 loss against Brentford, extending their league winless run to six matches.

West Ham, despite support from the market, played to a 1-1 draw against Tottenham. Not since February 27 have the Hammers earned all three points in a league match.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Man United vs. West Ham prediction

West Ham vs Man United: Prediction

Based on Manchester United’s lack of motivation in the Premier League and West Ham’s win in the last meeting, my Man United vs West Ham prediction is the West Ham Moneyline (+250)

The amount of respect given to the hosts with this line is crazy. United haven’t earned all three points since March 16 and have covered the spread only 14 times in 35 games.

Plus, it’s a short rest spot for manager Ruben Amorim, who faces a Thursday Europa League match before Sunday’s league match.

While the Europa league tie is all but decided, it still leaves the door open for rotation from the Red Devils.

For West Ham, they’ve really only gotten into trouble this year when their defense plays below average.

The Hammers recorded a 1-1-13 (W-D-L) record when conceding two or more goals. When they allow one or fewer, their record is 8-9-3 (W-D-L).

While United scored three at Brentford, it rated as super lucky off 1.5 expected goals.

Plus, there’s no chance these teams can be viewed as this far apart given the result in the previous meeting.

Even if you rate West Ham’s win as slightly lucky, they still finished level with United on post-shot expected goals with a +0.5 edge on expected goals, per fbref.com.

History also rates Sunday’s match as a good spot to back West Ham’s moneyline.

Since 2012, road dogs between +175 and +318 are 37-38 SU, assuming three factors:

  • The team’s previous game margin falls between -2 and +0
  • The favorite’s previous game margin falls between -3 and -1
  • The dog’s margin in the last head-to-head meeting is +1 or +2

Also worth noting is that underdogs are 55-20 ATS in those spots. As a result, those more risk averse can grab the West Ham Spread (+0.5, -130)
