  • Man City is predicted to be a -2.5-goal favorite against Ipswich Town.
  • This marks the first head-to-head meeting between City and Ipswich Town.
  • My prediction for this match is to create a moneyline parlay.

For the first time ever in the Premier League, Man City welcomes Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium.

This marks the first head-to-head meeting for these teams, who experienced opposite results on Matchday 1.

City earned a 1-0 win at Chelsea as short favorites, while Ipswich fell 2-0 at home to Liverpool as big underdogs.

Here’s a look at the Premier League odds and my prediction for Saturday’s match.

Man City vs. Ipswich Town Odds, Premier League

  • Man City Moneyline: -1100
  • Ipswich Town Moneyline: +2200
  • Draw Moneyline: +1100
  • Over/Under: 3.5 Goals (-135/+100)
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes (+120), No (-175)

Man City vs. Ipswich Town Prediction: Moneyline Parlay

My prediction for Saturday’s match is Man City 1H Over 0.5 (-400). To bring the price down, I parlayed it with Tottenham Moneyline (-220) for a price of -125.

If there’s one thing we know about Manchester City, it’s that they score early and often against newly-promoted teams.

Last year, they went to Burnley on Matchday 1. City captured a lead after only four minutes.

Although they failed to score a first-half goal on Matchday 3 at Sheffield United, it came without Kevin De Bruyne in the lineup.

Extrapolate the sample out to the 2021-22 season, and City’s record-scoring first-half goals improves, particularly at home.

Over their last nine home games against promoted teams, City have scored a first-half goal in all nine matches.

Travel back further to the 2017-18 season — their first season under Pep Guardiola — and bettors will find City have scored a first-half goal in 17 of 21 matches.

That strength is enough to quell my (slight) concern about Ipswich Town’s defensive record.

In the first half against Liverpool on Matchday 1, the Tractor Boys surrendered only three shots and 0.1 expected goals.

But the second half was a much different story, with Liverpool creating 2.6 xG and six big scoring chances.

It’s my opinion the second half is more representative of Ipswich Town’s defensive strength, so I’ll back City to bag a first-half goal on Saturday.
