- Liverpool is predicted to be a -0.5-goal home favorite against Arsenal.
- Liverpool has scored at least one goal in each of its last 36 EPL matches.
- My Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction is the total under 2.5 goals (-110).
Two EPL title contenders meet on Matchday 3 at Anfield with Liverpool hosting Arsenal.Â
Matchday 2 proved a struggle for Liverpool. After earning a 2-0 advantage against 10-man Newcastle, they blew the lead. However, a goal on the final kick earned the visitors three points.Â
Arsenal cruised as heavy home favorites on Matchday 2. A 5-0 win over Leeds proved the biggest margin of any team across the 10-match slate.Â

Arsenal vs Liverpool: Prediction
Based on Arsenal’s defensive strength and the potential injury absentees for the visitors in attack, my Liverpool vs Arsenal prediction is the Total Under 2.5 Goals (-110).Â
Both teams saw their last matches fly over the total. Additionally, both matches last season featured a plethora of chances for both sides.Â
But the circumstances around this match should render it a different result.Â
Arsenal likely won’t have Bukayo Saka for Monday’s fixture. That severely inhibits the Arsenal attack, albeit against a pretty weak Liverpool defense.Â
Plus, Arsenal struggled to produce much in attack in their lone trip this season. At Manchester United, Mikel Arteta’s side amassed only 1.2 post-shot xG, per fotmob.com.Â
The crux of this belief, though, is fading the Liverpool attack via Arsenal’s strong defense.Â
Upon first glance, Arsenal struggled in the last visit to Anfield. That match saw Liverpool create 2.7 post-shot xG and four big scoring chances.Â
But Arsenal deployed a second-choice defense. Jakub Kiwior started in place of Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly played at left back.Â
With Gabriel and Ricardo Califiori featuring, it likely leads to a better defensive output.Â
Further, the match represents a sell-high spot on Liverpool’s attack this season.Â
Through two matches, Arne Slot’s side created 5.31 post-shot xG and five big scoring chances. But it came against a bad Bournemouth defense and up a man against Newcastle.Â
Last season, Arsenal led the league in expected goals allowed and post-shot expected goals allowed, per fbref.com.Â
All of that should lead to fewer chances for Liverpool, who struggled to create against a 10-man defense.Â
