Leicester City vs. Arsenal Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

  • Leicester City is a +1.5-goal home underdog against Arsenal.
  • Arsenal has won each of its last nine EPL matches against promoted teams.
  • My Leicester City vs. Arsenal prediction is for Arsenal to cover the spread.

Off a blowout win against rivals Manchester City, Arsenal travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.

Arsenal’s 5-1 win over City on Matchday 24 kept title hopes alive for the Gooners. As it stands, Arsenal sits six points adrift of Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Leicester’s woes continued with a 4-0 blowout loss at Everton, their third loss in the last four games. Now, they’ll look to end a four-match home losing streak in the league.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Leicester City vs. Arsenal prediction.

Leicester City vs. Arsenal Prediction

Based on Arsenal’s exquisite record against promoted teams and their cover rate off a blowout win, my Leicester City vs. Arsenal prediction is the Arsenal Spread (-1.5, -130).

Leicester looks lifeless at the moment, especially against teams possessing outstanding defensive records.

Three of the Foxes’ last four have come against sides fifth or better in post-shot expected goals allowed, per fbref.com.

They’ve failed to cover this number in all three, with 0.7 or fewer expected goals in two. Now, they’ll face an Arsenal defense leading the league in that category.

Even more concerning is that those three matches didn’t come against quality attacks. Against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton, Leicester allowed 2.17 post-shot xGA.

In the reverse fixture against Arsenal, Leicester shipped 4.4 expected goals and 5.2 post-shot xGA.

They’ll also face an Arsenal side off a multi-goal win while creating three post-shot xG against a Man City side superior to Leicester in post-shot xGA.

Arsenal rates out a positive regression candidate against the league’s worst sides as well. This season, they own a +5 goal differential vs. a +7.9 xGDiff against promoted sides.

History tells us Arsenal also dominates previous underdogs coming off a blowout win.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal closed between -1.5 and -1 off a multi-goal win against a previous underdog 16 times.

In those matches, they’re 12-1-3 (W-L-P) ATS and are covering the spread by 1.79 goals per game.

As a result, lay the juice and back Arsenal to blitz Leicester City.
