  • Everton is predicted to be a -0.5-goal home favorite against West Ham.
  • 'First Half Under 1.5 Goals' has hit in 11 straight West Ham road matches.
  • My Everton vs West Ham prediction is the West Ham Spread (+0.5, -110).

Two teams coming off narrow defeats close out Matchday 6 at Hill Dickinson Stadium with Everton hosting West Ham.

Everton fell 2-1 as road underdogs to Liverpool on Matchday 5. That ended a three-match unbeaten run for David Moyes’ side.

West Ham also dropped all three points as home underdogs to Crystal Palace. A second-half winner from the visitors dropped the Hammers to 1-4 ATS through five matches.

West Ham vs Everton: Prediction

Based on West Ham’s rest edge and the previous success of road underdogs against previous dogs, my Everton vs West Ham prediction is the West Ham Spread (+0.5, -110).

Predicting a West Ham cover in this spot requires some courage. However, history suggests Monday’s match offers a chance for West Ham to cover the spread.

Early in the season, short road dogs cover the spread at a high rate against previous road underdogs.

Since 2012, half-goal road underdogs in matches 3-12 against a previous road underdog are 104-52 ATS, a 66.7% cover rate.

Those dogs have also enjoyed a high cover rate in recent seasons. Shrink the sample down to games since 2022, and bettors will find those dogs are 41-17 ATS for a 71% cover rate.

West Ham previously found itself in that spot this season. As short road dogs against Nottingham Forest, Graham Potter’s side covered the spread in a 3-0 win.

That remains the lone cover of the year from West Ham, which covered against Everton in a 1-1 draw last March.

Underlying metrics suggest it was a deserved cover by the Hammers. Expected goals rated that match 1-0.83 for Everton, while West Ham won on post-shot xG 1.82-1.46, per fotmob.com.

Additionally, West Ham gets nine days between games to prepare for Everton, which faces a Tuesday League Cup match.

That might provide a small edge to the visitors, who came away unlucky in their loss to Crystal Palace. By post-shot xG, West Ham finished behind Palace 1.57-1.55.

Given time to prepare, I predict the Hammers bounce back and earn a second result this season and third straight result against Everton.
