See the latest EPL odds, picks, and predictions for Everton vs Brighton ahead of their matchup on August 24.
  • Everton is predicted to be a +0.5-goal home underdog against Brighton.
  • The 'Second Half Over 0.5 Goals' market has hit in 16 straight Brighton EPL matches.
  • My Everton vs Brighton prediction is for Both Teams to Score (-135).

Everton open the doors to its new stadium with a Matchday 2 fixture against Brighton.

David Moyes’ side suffered a 1-0 defeat at Leeds on Monday. In Jarrad Branthwaite’s absence, Everton conceded loads of shots before a decisive penalty late in the second half.

Brighton started strong against Fulham, gaining a 1-0 advantage. However, a Fulham equalizer on the game’s final kick resigned the Seagulls home with just a point.

Brighton vs Everton: Prediction

Based on Everton’s offensive strength against Brighton and Jarrad Branthwaite’s absence, my Everton vs Brighton prediction is Both Teams to Score – “Yes” (-135).

Even before the penalty to Leeds, Everton looked quite fragile in defense.

The Toffees conceded 2.13 expected goals on 21 shots to Leeds. Excluding the penalty, Leeds created a pair of big scoring chances, per fotmob.com

A slight silver lining exists for Everton. For the entire match, they only conceded 0.22 post-shot xG from open play.

But Brighton’s attack represents a step up from Leeds. The last time Everton faced Brighton sans Branthwaite, the team conceded 1.84 post-shot xG prior to a red card.

At the same time, Everton succeeded in attack in a recent trip to Brighton under Moyes.

Albeit solely from a penalty, the Toffees created 0.9 post-shot xG at Brighton last January. Plus, Everton generally proved a better attack under Moyes.

Over the last 20 Moyes matches, Everton scored in 15. Within that sample, both teams to score hit in 10 of 20 matches.

However, that came during a period when Branthwaite played for Everton. In nine games last year where Branthwaite didn’t start, Everton kept two clean sheets.

In 2023, Branthwaite didn’t play three matches. Everton kept a clean sheet only once.

That means in the last 13 games without the central defender, Everton managed only three clean sheets.

Pair those stats with Everton’s offensive success under Moyes, and I like both teams to score in Merseyside come Sunday.
