Brighton vs. Bournemouth Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

  • Brighton is a -0.5-goal home favorite against Bournemouth.
  • Bournemouth has lost four of its last five EPL Tuesday away matches.
  • My Brighton vs. Bournemouth prediction centers on the Brighton team total.

Seeking a third consecutive win, Brighton host Bournemouth on Tuesday at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls parlayed their 3-0 home win over Chelsea with a 4-0 thrashing of Southampton on Matchday 26, reaching ninth in the league table.

Bournemouth fell 1-0 to Wolves over the weekend after an early red card. Bournemouth sits fifth in the league table, only a point outside the Champions League spots.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Brighton vs. Bournemouth prediction.

Brighton vs. Bournemouth Prediction

Based on Bournemouth’s defensive luck and defensive absentees, my Brighton vs. Bournemouth prediction is Brighton Over 1.5 Goals (-120).

A makeshift backline appears in the cards for Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola after Illia Zabarnyi received his marching orders against Wolves.

Compounding that absence is the fact Julian Araujo and Marcos Senesi won’t return until early March.

That sets this up as the perfect spot to fade a Bournemouth defense that has run wildly lucky in defense this season.

The Cherries have conceded 10.4 goals under post-shot expected this season, good for the league lead.

Even more drastic? Bournemouth lead the second-place team by nearly as big an overperformance as the gap between second and 13th.

Brighton cleared this number in 14 of 26 this season, including an earlier success against Bournemouth away from home.

But when one examines Brighton’s record against sub-par defenses, their record improves.

Against sides 11th or worse in post-shot expected goals allowed, Brighton cleared this number in nine of 13 games.

Across all 13 contests, Fabian Huerzler’s side averages close to two post-shot expected goals per 90 minutes.

Lastly, Brighton has cleared this number in three of the previous four against Bournemouth. Across those four contests, the Seagulls averaged 1.73 post-shot xG per 90.

As a result, I like the hosts to continue their success against Bournemouth and clear this number for a third straight game.
