Brentford vs. Tottenham Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

  • Brentford is a -0.5-goal home favorite against Tottenham.
  • The 1H Over 0.5 market has hit in 17 straight Tottenham away matches.
  • My Brentford vs. Tottenham prediction focuses on the Brentford team total.

Seeking an end to a seven-match winless run, Tottenham travel on short rest for a meeting with Brentford.

The Bees earned a 2-1 road win against Crystal Palace on Matchday 23. That marks only the second win in the last five league matches for Brentford, which sits 11th in the table.

Tottenham finds itself amidst a horrible run of form. A 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Matchday 23 marked their sixth loss in the previous seven, with Tottenham’s last win coming on December 15.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Brentford vs. Tottenham prediction.

Brentford vs. Tottenham Prediction

Based on Brentford’s strong starts against bad defenses and Tottenham’s rest disadvantage, my Brentford vs. Tottenham prediction is Brentford 1H Over 0.5 (-165).

It’s a lot of juice to lay on a single bet, so I’ll pair it with Under 4.5 Goals in Manchester United-Crystal Palace to bring it to -120.

The best element of this Brentford team is their attack, which sits fifth in post-shot expected goals, per fbref.com.

Although they’ve failed to score a first-half goal in three of their previous four at home, three of those matches came against sides fourth or better in the corresponding defensive metric.

Brentford have excelled this year against the league’s worst defenses.

Thomas Frank’s side has faced 10 matches against teams 11th or worse in post-shot xGA and has scored a first half goal in nine of those games.

Their only failure? At Aston Villa, which sits 11th in that category. Currently, Tottenham ranks 14th in post-shot xGA.

This marks Brentford’s seventh home match against a side 13th or worse in post-shot xGA. They’ve scored in the first half in all of the previous six.

Plus, Brentford scored once off 0.94 post-shot xG in the first half in the reverse trip to Spurs.

That marks three straight against Tottenham in which Brentford managed at least 0.8 post-shot xGF in the first half with Brentford scoring a first-half goal in all three.

It’s also a short rest spot for Tottenham, which hosts a Europa League fixture on Thursday before playing on Sunday.

Accordingly, trust Brentford’s record against the bad defenses and take them to notch a first-half tally.
