Bournemouth vs. Liverpool Prediction, Odds & Match Preview

  • Bournemouth is a +0.5-goal home underdog against Liverpool.
  • Liverpool has won 10 of its last 11 EPL matches against Bournemouth.
  • My Bournemouth vs. Liverpool prediction is for the match to clear 3.5 goals.

The marquee fixture of Saturday’s Premier League slate sees leaders Liverpool travel to Bournemouth.

The Cherries’ strong form continued last week with a 5-0 throttling of Nottingham Forest at home. Now, they’ll look to avenge a 3-0 loss to Liverpool from earlier in the season.

Liverpool captured a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town in their previous match, their second straight league win. Over the last three games against Bournemouth, Liverpool own a 10-1 edge.

Check out the Premier League odds and my Bournemouth vs. Liverpool prediction.

Bournemouth vs. Liverpool Odds, Premier League

Bournemouth vs. Liverpool Prediction

Based on Bournemouth’s expected regression, particularly on defense, my Bournemouth vs. Liverpool prediction is Over 3.5 Goals (+115).

The reverse fixture between these sides finished 3-0, but the underlying metrics suggest more goals should have occurred.

Liverpool scored three off 3.84 post-shot expected goals, while Bournemouth failed to score off 1.53 post-shot xG.

Regarding Bournemouth, a massive amount of regression is on the way based on their underlying metrics.

Through 23 fixtures, Bournemouth matches have seen 67 goals. That comes against 72.7 expected goals and a whopping 81.3 post-shot xG!

Most of that regression comes defensively. Bournemouth has conceded 26 goals off 35.7 post-shot xG.

At a +9.7 goals saved under expected, Bournemouth leads the league by 5.5 goals. That’s as big a gap between second and 15th in that category, per fbref.com.

Regression should be expected against Liverpool, which leads the league in post-shot xGF.

Sample five matches at full strength against teams fifth or better in post-shot xGF and bettors will find Bournemouth conceded 2.36 post-shot xG per 90.

At the same time, Bournemouth’s attack has run pretty unlucky.

The Cherries have scored 41 goals off 45.6 post-shot xG. That underperformance ranks second in the league, behind only Crystal Palace.

History also likes this match clearing 3.5 goals.

Since 2021, matches featuring a home dog and a total of 3.5 are 19-7 to the over, assuming the road team’s previous match cleared the total by at least 1.5 goals.

When the home team is also coming off an over: 10-4 to the over.
