The 2024 American Express is one of two pro-am events on the PGA Tour calendar and is set to tee off this week for the 64th time.
One hundred and fifty-six professional golfers and 156 amateurs are in the field this year, providing some solid golf betting opportunities.
The format at the American Express is slightly different, and each player will play one round at three courses, the PGA West Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club, and PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course.
After the first three rounds are completed, the cut rule kicks in with Sunday’s final round at the PGA West Stadium Course.
Where is PGA West and La Quinta Country Club?
PGA West and La Quinta Country Club are in Coachella Valley in La Quinta, California.
La Quinta Country Club is just five miles from PGA West. The 7,060 yards, par 72 course is famous for its premier greens.
The Stadium Course, designed by Pete Dye, is renowned for its mounded fairway surroundings and protected green structures that require exceptional strategy and precision on the approach.
The 7,187 yards, par 72 course is fresh off a recent renovation and is most famed for its No. 17 island green hole, aptly named “Alcatraz.” There’s also the water-lined 18th that makes for a nervy and menacing finish to the course.
The Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West rounds out the trio of courses. It runs adjacent to the Stadium, and players can expect elevated putting surfaces, a large, natural spread of waste bunkers, and tons of water.
