It takes a special kind of player to become a franchise’s all-time points leader.
Some of the legends of the game, like Ray Bourque, Gordie Howe, and Wayne Gretzky, are the all-time leaders for the teams they’re most synonymous with.
In other cases, like the Utah Mammoth and Seattle Kraken, who have both existed for one and four seasons respectively, the all-time points leader is just kind of a “Well, someone has to have the record” situation.
Here’s the all-time point leaders for all NHL teams as of the 2024-25 season.

Who is the NHL’s All-Time Point Leader?
The league’s all-time point leader is Wayne Gretzky, with 2,857. Gretzky played for four NHL franchises across a 20-year career.
He became the league’s all-time point leader on October 15th, 1989, as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, playing against his former team, the Edmonton Oilers. The initial record, 1,850 points, was held by Gordie Howe.
While Alexander Ovechkin broke Gretzky’s career goal record last season, the all-time points record will be much harder to surpass. Gretzky has more assists, 1,963, than any other player in the record books has points.
To refer to the often quoted stat, if Gretzky had never scored a goal, he’d still be the all-time points leader by a comfortable margin.
