A lethal power play is the cheat code to success in the NHL.Â

Here’s a look at which teams are really cooking on the man advantage so far this season, with a ranking of all 32 teams’ power play percentage and the goals they’ve gotten from the 5-on-4.Â

Which Team Has the Best Power Play?
The 13-7-5 Penguins are holding onto the league’s number-one power play. With a really efficient power-play percentage of 33.3%, they’re delivering a goal on almost exactly one-third of all their opportunities.Â
Pittsburgh’s power-play prowess has allowed them to sneak into the top-ten in the league’s point percentage.Â
After being basically an after thought in the run-up to this season, they’re suddenly a semi-frisky contender to make the playoffs. A lot of that, if not all of that, has to do with their power play opportunities.Â
The Penguins rank 27th in the league in even-strength scoring with 46 of those goals so far this season. But, in spite of that poor mark in 5-on-5, they rank 10th in goals-for per game with 3.16.Â
Goals on the power play account for around 25% of Pittsburgh’s overall goals. That’s the third-highest percentage of overall goals coming from the man-advantage in the league behind Minnesota and Dallas.Â
But the Penguins remain an overall longshot to win the Stanley Cup despite their excellence on the power play, the currently have +15000 odds to win the championship.Â
