Will Joe Burrow Miss Week 1?

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a calf strain injury during the Bengals’ preseason camp, back on July 27.

Dozens of media members and Bengals fans have been trying to figure out if Burrow will be healed up and ready to play by Week 1, but in truth, nobody really knows for sure.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor originally announced that Burrow would miss “several weeks” with the injury. He’s been held out of practice and preseason games while he tries to heal, and Taylor has been cagey about providing an updated timetable as the Bengals approach their Week 1 game in Cleveland on Sept. 10.

Taylor and the Bengals aren’t required to provide the media with any kind of update – accurate or otherwise – regarding Burrow’s health.

Still, Bengals fans may be right to interpret the lack of any good news as potentially bad news, as there are few substantive advantages for Taylor in suggesting to opposing teams that Burrow may be unavailable at the start of the season.

For now, the Bengals are one-point road favorites in Cleveland in Week 1 at the BetMGM online sportsbook. That number could flip if Burrow’s status isn’t clarified in the coming weeks.
