When Does the 2025 NFL Preseason Start?
The first preseason game of the 2025 NFL cycle is the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, July 31. Two yet-to-be determined teams will scrimmage in Canton, Ohio.
The game – officially called the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game – was first played in 1962, one year before the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened its doors in Canton, Ohio.Â
It was played for 49 consecutive years, from 1962-2010, until the lockout forced its cancellation in 2011. The game was also canceled in 2016 (poor field conditions) and 2020 (COVID-19).
