Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith set the Super Bowl record for most rushing yards in a game.

Smith rushed 22 times for 204 yards in Washington’s 42-10 romp over Denver in Super Bowl XXII, back in January 1989.

Super Bowl MVP was ultimately awarded to Redskins quarterback Doug Williams, who enjoyed a Nick Foles-like journey from backup quarterback to Super Bowl starter.

Nevertheless, Smith was an important pace-setter in Washington’s second Super Bowl victory.
