Seahawks vs. Rams: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction

See the latest NFL Week 16 odds, picks and predictions for Seahawks vs. Rams on December 18 at Lumen Field.
  • The Seahawks are predicted to be a 1.5-point home underdog against the Rams.
  • Sean McVay owns a 17-3 record over his last 20 games played in December.
  • My Seahawks vs Rams prediction is the Los Angeles Rams Moneyline (-115).

A pair of NFC West heavyweights meet on TNF as the Seahawks host the Rams.

Los Angeles picked up a win and cover against the Lions on Sunday, clinching a postseason berth. Earlier in the year, the Rams won narrowly at home against the Seahawks.

Seattle used six field goals to dispatch the Colts in Week 15. It gave head coach Mike Macdonald’s team a fourth straight home win, despite a non-cover.

Seahawks vs. Rams Prediction

Based on Los Angeles’ trustworthy offense and Seattle’s offensive struggles on Sunday, my Seahawks vs Rams prediction is the Rams Moneyline (-115).

This prediction is more against Seattle than backing Los Angeles. On Sunday, the matchup could not have presented a bigger opportunity for the Seahawks.

Indianapolis sent out a defense missing both starting corners and top run defender DeForest Buckner. Seattle could only muster two red zone trips and 18 points.

Entering that game, Seattle lacked a cohesive defense. Although the unit led the NFL in defensive DVOA, it ranked 27th in variance (32nd = the most unpredictable defense).

They also struggle against tight ends – 26th in DVOA against the position — which is a staple of Sean McVay’s offense. Entering this matchup, the Rams lead the NFL in offensive DVOA.

This game marks only the third for Seattle against a top-five DVOA offense. They lost the first meeting in Los Angeles and barely escaped over the second-place Colts.

All of that defensive inexperience – 27th-hardest schedule, excluding Week 15 – and variance should put Seattle’s defense in trouble on Thursday.

Offensively, it’s a step up in competition from Indianapolis. Excluding Week 15, the Rams defense ranked third in defensive DVOA, 11 spots higher than the Colts.

That makes this contest a strong sell-high spot for Seattle, which has produced some inflated scorelines of late.

Defense and special teams contributed to wins over the Falcons, Vikings and Cardinals. Without those plays, I question how the Seahawks keep up with Los Angeles.

Pair that with the fact Sean McVay is 17-3 SU in his last 20 December games, and I predict the Rams emerge with a win on TNF.
