After finishing his college career at Notre Dame, Riley Leonard was drafted by the nearby Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Riley was stashed at the bottom of the depth chart for most of the year, looking up at another former Duke quarterback: Daniel Jones. He likely thought he wouldn’t see the field during his first season as a professional football player.

But with Jones suffering a season-ending Achilles rupture, and backup quarterback Anthony Richardson still recovering from a freak injury to his orbital bone, Leonard became the next man up for unlucky Indy.

As expected, the Colts’ odds market at BetMGM took a steep adjustment.

Riley Leonard Contract

Earlier this year, Riley Leonard signed a four-year deal with the Colts worth $4,435,244. That’s roughly in line with what most late-round picks are paid.

Because Leonard wasn’t drafted in the first round, the Colts do not have the option to extend him using the NFL’s fifth-year option.

Riley Leonard Signing Bonus

Riley Leonard received a signing bonus of $235,244 after finalizing his rookie contract.

Riley Leonard Salary

Riley Leonard will make $1,078,464 from his NFL contract during the 2025 season.

That money breaks down to $840,000 in base money – the NFL rookie minimum salary – plus his signing bonus and a $3,220 workout bonus.

Riley Leonard Guaranteed Money

As a sixth-round pick, the only guaranteed money on Riley Leonard’s contract was the signing bonus he was immediately paid. He can be cut at any time.

Riley Leonard Draft Pick

The Colts drafted Riley Leonard with the 189th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
