- The Rams are a 8.5-point home favorite against the 49ers.
- The Rams have won nine straight games as favorites against NFC opponents.
- My Rams vs 49ers prediction is for the 49ers (+3.5) to cover the spread.
The Week 5 NFL slate begins on Thursday as the Rams go for a second straight win.Â
Los Angeles won and covered 27-20 as home favorites against the Colts on Sunday. The win moves the Rams to 3-1 SU & ATS, good for the lead in the NFC West.Â
San Francisco fell to 3-1 in Week 4 with a home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season, the 49ers finished 0-2 SU against the Rams.Â

Rams vs. 49ers Prediction
[Writer’s Note: This line has risen to +8.5 with Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings all announced out for San Francisco].Â
Based on the Rams’ lucky cover in Week 4 and the 49ers’ defensive strength, my Rams vs 49ers prediction is the 49ers Spread (+3.5, -115).Â
Largely, the prediction comes down to the number. The Rams won and covered in somewhat lucky fashion, while San Francisco lost, primarily due to allowing a special teams touchdown.Â
The big concern with San Francisco? The scheduling spot.Â
Los Angeles is playing back-to-back home games, while the 49ers have to travel from San Francisco for a short week road game.Â
Sean McVay has enjoyed a strong record on TNF. Under McVay, Los Angeles is 7-3 ATS in the spot, including 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS when he’s playing back-to-back home games.Â
What gives me encouragement with the 49ers is a strong defense off a fluky loss.Â
Against the Jaguars, San Francisco turned the ball over four times and allowed an 87-yard punt return for a touchdown.Â
Exclusive of Week 4, San Francisco ranked sixth in defensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com. Of slight concern, however, is that the Rams rate out as their hardest opponent to date.Â
That said, it’s a potential sell-high spot on the Rams. In order to hand the Colts a loss, Los Angeles needed a touchdown-turned-touchback and an 88-yard go-ahead touchdown.Â
Those game outcomes leave me to consider the 49ers getting north of a key number.Â
For those interested in the Rams, I’d consider waiting to see if Rams -3 appears later in the week.Â
