The first player off the board was LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. Tua Tagovailoa was drafted fifth by Miami, just before Herbert.Â
Burrow and Herbert found near-immediate success on their respective NFL teams and became natural foils for one another.
Chase Young, Jeff Okudah, and Andrew Thomas were the other three non-quarterbacks selected in the top six.
