Three quarterbacks were selected before the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love in 2020: Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and Justin Herbert.
Joe Burrow went first overall to the Cincinnati Bengals and has received two NFL Comeback Player of the Year awards (2021 and 2024), as well as two Pro Bowl appearances (2022 and 2024). The former LSU Tiger led the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, but Cincinnati lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 23-20.
The Miami Dolphins selected Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa fifth overall, who led the NFL in passing yards in 2023 and also secured a Pro Bowl appearance in the same year.
Lastly, Justin Herbert was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers sixth, who saw his best numbers come during the 2021 season, where he hit 5,014 yards passing along with 38 touchdowns. Herbert also secured NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 along with a 2021 Pro Bowl nod.
In addition to these big-time quarterbacks, some star wide receivers were drafted before Love as well, including Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, and Brandon Aiyuk.
