Ejiro Evero begins his third season as the Panthers’ defensive coordinator this year.Â
Evero joined the Panthers in 2023, with the defense struggling in his first two years. After ranking 29th in points allowed in 2023, Carolina dropped to 32nd last season.Â
However, Evero enjoyed a strong defensive record coordinating Denver’s defense in 2022. That year, the Broncos ranked seventh and 14th, respectively, in yards and points allowed.Â
Including Carolina and Denver, Evero worked for seven NFL teams:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Def. Quality Control (2007-09)
- San Francisco 49ers: Assistant (2011), Off. Assistant (2012-13), Def. Assistant (2014-15)
- Green Bay Packers: Def. Quality Control (2016)
- Los Angeles Rams: Safeties Coach (2017-20), Def. Pass Game Coordinator/Secondary (2021)
In tandem with his NFL work, Evero earned four years of experience in high school and college coaching.Â
He assisted coaches at Davis HS in 2004. In 2005, he moved to UC Davis as an assistant coach for two seasons.Â
Finally, Evero worked on special teams and safeties at D-III Univ. of Redlands in 2010.Â
