What’s the NFL League Minimum Salary for Rookies & Veterans?

The NFL league minimum for a rookie salary is $840,000 for the 2025 season. 

Because of the current collective bargaining agreement, the minimum salary increases based on the number of years a player has been in the NFL. 

NFL Minimum Salary: 2025 Contract Rates

  • Rookie: $840,000
  • 1 Year: $960,000
  • 2 Years: $1.03 million
  • 3 Years: $1.1 million
  • 4-6 Years: $1.17 million
  • 7+ Years: $1.255 million

NFL Base Salary For Veterans

The minimum salary for NFL players with one year of experience is $960,000. 

As seen above, the minimum increases based on how long a player has successfully remained in the NFL.

NFL League Minimum Salary For Next Season

For the 2026 season, the rookie minimum salary will increase to $885,000, while the veteran minimum salary will increase to $1,005,000.
