The last time the Detroit Lions started an NFL season 3-0 was in 2011, which ended with a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the wild-card round.

Detroit posted a 10-6 regular season record, including a 5-0 start before losing to the San Francisco 49ers during Week 6. 

Throughout this season, quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 5,038 yards and 41 touchdowns, and wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught 96 passes for 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns.
