How Many Points Will the 49ers Score this Season?

  • San Francisco’s regular-season point total is projected at 415.5 points.
  • Last year, the 49ers scored fewer than 400 points for the first time since 2020.
  • I predict the 49ers clear their regular-season points prop in 2025.

The story of San Francisco’s 2024 campaign came down to injuries.

No team lost more adjusted games to injury than Kyle Shanahan’s team. On offense, only the Saints suffered more injuries on offense than the 49ers.

That led to a weak offensive performance. San Francisco scored 389 points in 2024, down from a whopping 491 points during the team’s 2023 Super Bowl run.

Below, bettors can find the NFL odds for San Francisco’s regular-season points over/under for the offense.

Prediction: How Many Points Will the 49ers Score?

Based on the 49ers’ strong offensive record despite significant injury issues last year, I predict the 49ers finish Over 415.5 Points (-110).

I rate this as your typical buy-low spot on the 49ers.

Yes, they’ll be without Brandon Aiyuk to start the year. Yes, they traded Deebo Samuel this offseason.

But a return to full health by Christian McCaffrey helps offset both those issues.

Where McCaffrey helps San Francisco the most is in the red zone. In 2023, San Francisco led the league in red zone touchdown percentage (68%).

Last year, the team fell to 14th in that category at 57.1%.

If improvement exists in that category, it allows for the possibility the 49ers instantly see a rise in points.

But what excites me the most about San Francisco’s offense? Their record last year in the face of adversity.

Despite losing the second-most adjusted games on offense, the 49ers finished ninth in offensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.

That also came against the ninth-hardest schedule of opposing defenses.

By historical precedent, the 49ers need to jump from ninth to seventh or better to clear this number. Last season, all of the top seven cleared 415.5 points.

In 2023, every team fifth or better in offensive DVOA cleared this benchmark.

In three of the previous four years, the 49ers finished sixth or better in offensive DVOA. To finish outside that mark, it required overwhelming injury issues.

With only room to improve from an injury standpoint, the 49ers offense should see a jump in 2025.
