Jeff Ulbrich returns to Atlanta this year to serve as Falcons defensive coordinator.Â
Ulbrich arrives in Atlanta after a stint with the Jets. From 2021-24, he worked as the team’s defensive coordinator. Last year, he took over as interim head coach during the season.Â
This year begins Ulbrich’s second spell with the Falcons. Previously, he worked with the team from 2015 to 2020.Â
Ulbrich coached Atlanta linebackers for the entirety of his tenure. In 2020, he added assistant head coach and interim defensive coordinator to his responsibilities.Â
Rounding out Ulbrich’s NFL experience is a two-year stint with the Seahawks.Â
From 2010-11, he served as an assistant special teams coach. Three years in college football followed with UCLA. There, he served as a linebackers and special teams coach.Â
This season, Ulbrich owns the task of turning around a weak Atlanta defense.Â
Last year, the Falcons finished 23rd in points allowed per game. However, over a third of opponents cleared 30 points against Atlanta.Â
