The Jets nearly came through outright as seven-point dogs to Tampa Bay. Despite covering the spread, Aaron Glenn’s team dropped to 0-3 in a 29-27 loss.

Based on the fact that both teams enter Monday’s game with extended rest and the buy-low spot for both defenses, my Dolphins vs Jets prediction is the Total Under 45 Points (-110). 

An under look probably feels gross here. After all, both teams sit 26th or worse in defensive DVOA – New York ranks 26th while Miami sits 31st, per ftnfantasy.com. 

But it should not go ignored that the teams have faced brutal schedules. Miami has played the hardest set of opposing offenses. The Jets sit not far behind with the sixth-hardest schedule. 

New York’s game in Tampa Bay saw 56 total points. However, the matchup included a pair of defensive scores. Take those away, and the game lands on 42. 

I won’t sit here and tell you the Dolphins defense is good. However, playing a 26th-ranked Jets offense by DVOA on extended rest is about as good a spot you’ll get with this team. 

Plus, both teams desperately want to run the ball. That should help burn clock and shorten the game on Monday. 

History also suggests a look at the under is worth consideration. 

Since 2018, games featuring a total between 43.5 and 46 with both teams playing on 8+ days rest are 42-9-1 to the under. 

Included in that sample: 15-2 to the under in divisional games. 

Given those factors, bettors should expect a lower-scoring contest on Monday in Miami.
