- The Commanders are predicted to be a seven-point home underdog against the Eagles.
- The Eagles have lost each of their last three December games as road favorites.
- My Eagles vs Commanders prediction is for Washington to cover the spread (+7).
With a chance to clinch the NFC East, the Eagles will travel to Washington, D.C. to face the Commanders.Â
Philadelphia cruised to a 31-0 win over the Raiders on Sunday, easily covering as 12.5-point favorites. If the Eagles win against Washington and Dallas loses, the division race is over.Â
Washington won and covered as underdogs against the Giants on Sunday. That ended an eight-game skid for Dan Quinn’s team and improved the team to 2-1 in division play.Â

Commanders vs. Eagles Prediction
Based on Philadelphia’s inability to stop the run without Jalen Carter and Washington’s effective ground game, my Commanders vs Eagles prediction is the Commanders Spread (+7, -110).
I don’t place much stock in the Eagles’ blowout win against Las Vegas. The Raiders mustered only 75 yards of offense behind a battered offensive line.Â
The trickle effect left the Raiders’ defense on the field for 66 plays.Â
I don’t expect the Eagles’ defense proves nearly as efficient against Washington. The defense remains 16th in rush defense DVOA and could operate without Carter for another game.Â
Washington has shown glimpses of a strong run game. The offense ranks 20th in rush DVOA for the year, but recently produced strong showings against Miami and Denver.Â
Both of those defenses outpunch the Eagles in rush defense DVOA. Additionally, Washington easily covered the spread as a home underdog against Denver.Â
I can also make the argument that this team isn’t nearly as bad as its 4-10 record suggests. By point differential, Washington sits a full win under expectation.Â
This also marks the fourth straight game in which Washington will close as a home underdog. Although the team is 1-2 ATS in its last three, the game represents an easier test.Â
Both Jared Goff and Sam Darnold shredded the Washington defense. Bo Nix failed to cover against the Commanders.Â
Goff, Darnold and Nix place seventh, second and eighth in EPA per dropback against man coverage. Hurts places 16th in that category.Â
Barring a shocking turnaround where the Eagles’ pass offense explodes, I question how they cover on short rest.
