  • The Chargers are a 3-point home favorite against the Broncos.
  • The favorites have won each of the Broncos' last 10 games.
  • My Chargers vs. Broncos prediction focuses on the first half spread.

Looking to end a two-game losing streak, the Chargers welcome the Broncos to kick off the Week 16 slate.

Los Angeles’ horrific second half resigned Jim Harbaugh’s unit to a 40-17 defeat against Tampa Bay on Sunday. That leaves the Chargers third in the division after three losses in four games.

Denver used a strong fourth quarter to capture a win and cover against the Colts. A win vaulted the Broncos over the Chargers in the AFC West and the NFL playoff picture.

NFL Week 16 Odds: Chargers vs. Broncos

Chargers vs. Broncos Prediction

Based on Week 15’s results and Justin Herbert’s brilliant record in the first half, my Chargers vs. Broncos prediction is the Chargers 1H Spread (-2.5, -110).

Herbert is an aforementioned 58% ATS in the first half with the Chargers. With Harbaugh as his head coach, he’s 10-4 ATS in the opening half, including 7-3 as a market favorite.

Part of that success this season can be attributed to the Chargers’ outstanding defensive record early.

At 6.8 points allowed per first half, the Chargers lead the league in that category.

Comparatively, Denver’s offense leaves much to be desired in the first half, particularly away from home.

The Broncos average 11.7 road points per game in the opening half.

Although it’s a slightly top-half mark by points per game, Denver managed no first-half points at home against the Chargers earlier this season.

While the Chargers featured on extended rest in that contest, the short week for Denver against a Los Angeles side playing two straight home games should lead to offensive struggles.

Plus, Bo Nix is 3-4 ATS in the first half as a market underdog this season, including 1-3 in his previous four first halves as a market dog.

Add in the fact Los Angeles received an embarrassing loss in Week 15, and I expect a rapid response early in the game.

Ensure the Chargers are no longer than -1.5 in the first half on Thursday before betting this. However, I’ll grab it so long as they’re under a field goal at home.
