  • Jesse Minter serves as the Chargers’ defensive coordinator.
  • Minter previously worked as a defensive coach on the Ravens’ staff.
  • All but six years of Minter’s experience came in college football.

Jesse Minter enters his second year as the Chargers’ defensive coordinator.

Since 2017, Minter has picked up ample experience with the brothers Harbaugh.

His first NFL experience came with John Harbaugh in Baltimore. There, he spent three years as a defensive assistant and a year as a DB’s coach.

After four years in Baltimore and a year with Vanderbilt, Minter linked up with Jim Harbaugh. For two years, Minter worked as Michigan’s defensive coordinator.

Minter followed Harbaugh to Los Angeles before last season. In 2024, he coordinated a defense that led the league in points allowed per game.

Before his stint with Baltimore, Minter spent 11 years working in college football.

He began in 2006 as Notre Dame’s defensive intern. Upon leaving South Bend, Minter worked for three schools over a 10-year period:

  • Cincinnati: Grad Assistant (2007-08)
  • Indiana State: Linebackers (2009-10), Defensive Coordinator (2011-12)
  • Georgia State: Defensive Coordinator (2013-16)
