Best Active NFL Player From Each State

All 50 states and Washington, D.C., have been represented on NFL rosters over the league’s 105-year existence. But not each state is represented on NFL rosters this season.

The approximately 1,500 players on active NFL rosters hail from 47 states (and D.C.). Some states have more than 100 (e.g., Texas and Florida), some have dozens (e.g., Michigan and Washington), and some only have one or a few (e.g., New Mexico and South Dakota).

Regardless of volume, who’s the best? Using officially listed birth cities, which player is the best active NFL player from each state?

Maine, North Dakota, and Vermont are the only three states without an active NFL player.

The Washington Commanders are the most represented team with four players: Austin Ekeler, Deebo Samuel, Matt Gay, and Terry McLaurin. Five states are tied for the second-most with three players apiece, including the Las Vegas Raiders, who have the only long snapper — and only Wyoming native on an active NFL roster — on the map, Jacob Bobenmoyer.

Six teams have zero players on the map: Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
