Super Bowls are played in both indoor and outdoor stadiums.
Indoor Super Bowls
The first 11 Super Bowls were hosted by open-air stadiums. The first indoor game was in January 1978 when Super Bowl XII was played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
Twenty-four of the first 58 Super Bowls have been played in indoor venues. That includes venues have retractable roofs (e.g., State Farm Stadium) or are partially exposed to open air (e.g., SoFi Stadium).
