Prior to becoming the head coach of the Houston Cougars in 2014, Kelvin Sampson spent three seasons as an assistant coach across town with the Houston Rockets.Â
That added NBA experience could be paying off now, as Sampson’s squad now has one of the best records in Quadrant 1 games this year.
Sampson’s most immediate collegiate basketball coaching position was a short stint as head coach at Indiana, from 2006-08, where he resigned before the completion of his second year after notice of NCAA allegations.
Sampson was also a head coach at Montana Tech (1981-85), Washington State (1987-94) and Oklahoma (1994-2006).Â
In between the Hoosiers and Rockets, Sampson spent three seasons as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks.
