The Houston Rockets enter the 2025-26 NBA season with a win total of 52.5 at the BetMGM online sportsbook.
The Rockets are championship contenders in the latest NBA betting odds after winning 52 games last year. But has the win total moved too much in a tough Western Conference?
Rockets Over/Under Wins 2025-26
- Over 52.5 wins: +100
- Under 52.5 wins: -120
Rockets Win Total Prediction
- Under 55.5 wins (Pick made Aug. 21)
It brings me no joy to suggest the under as my win total prediction for the Rockets. This team can challenge the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West and win an NBA championship for the first time since 1995.
However, the Rockets’ win total has increased by 12 games since last year. I’m fading that type of adjustment when the West is as loaded as ever.
The Rockets won 52 games last year to claim the No. 2 seed. After getting upset in Round 1, they improved their team by trading Jalen Green for Kevin Durant. They also signed Dorian Finney-Smith from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Adding that veteran presence to a young team should help the Rockets advance further in the postseason. Durant brings a much-needed creation element in the half-court, while DFS is a reliable option on both ends of the floor.
While the Rockets should be a formidable threat in the playoffs, I’m not sure the regular-season version of this team has improved significantly by getting a bit older. And that matters when talking about Houston’s highest win total since 2018-19, when it finished under 56.5 with 53 victories.
The Rockets are expected to win a significant number of games this year. They will challenge for a top seed once again.
But I’ll fade the lofty total with more outs to the under.
