The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade conversation will never die.
After speculation that Antetokounmpo might request a trade in the offseason, the Milwaukee Bucks were able to keep him in town by landing Myles Turner. But the trade machines have been fired back up this winter, as Antetokounmpo is reportedly having conversations with the Bucks about whether or not he should move to another team.
If Antetokounmpo is available, there will be plenty of teams eager to land the two-time NBA MVP. But where could he end up?
Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Odds & Favorites
The BetMGM online sportsbook doesn’t have a market for Antetokounmpo’s next team, though it’s worth checking the latest NBA odds if he does demand a trade. He could alter the landscape of the league, depending on where he ends up.
For context, BetMGM did offer a market for Antetokounmpo’s next team when there was initial trade speculation last May.
At the time, the Houston Rockets were the betting favorites to land Antetokounmpo. The Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers followed them as the top contenders to trade for Antetokounmpo.
If there were a market available today, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of those teams found themselves near the top of the list. Personally, I’d make the New York Knicks the favorites to bring in Antetokounmpo, considering all the noise surrounding that fit.
As a result, I’d consider these teams as the favorites to trade for Antetokounmpo:
- Knicks
- Thunder
- Spurs
- Rockets
- Hawks
Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Prediction
If Antetokounmpo demands a trade, I’m predicting that he will join the Knicks as things currently stand.
The thing people have to understand about trade demands is that the star has complete control. You might not even need to be that much of a star, either, as De’Aaron Fox was able to force his way to San Antonio last year.
A few seasons ago, Kevin Durant told the Brooklyn Nets to send him to the Phoenix Suns in a deal that involved Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and four first-round picks.
Sure, the Bucks’ best interest is to get the best possible deal. But they also want to do right by a player who gave their city a championship in 2021.
The Thunder, Spurs, and Rockets could all prepare more enticing deals with their combination of players and picks. The Atlanta Hawks have a valuable unprotected first-round pick for 2026 after a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
That said, Antetokounmpo has suggested he’d like to play for a big-market team in the Eastern Conference. The smoke around Antetokounmpo and the Knicks makes a lot of sense on paper.
If he wants to be in New York, that’s where he will end up.
