- The National Bank Open is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world.
- The total men’s prize purse is more than $9 million.
- This year, the men will play in Toronto and the women will play in Montreal.
The National Bank Open is one of the most entertaining events on the professional tennis tour.
First, there’s the history. This tournament only became known as the National Bank Open in 2021 – before that, it was the Rogers Cup.Â
For much of its history – which dates back all the way to the 19th century – it was known as the Canadian Open, or the Canadian national championships.
The National Bank Open is a joint tour event, meaning there’s a men’s draw and a women’s draw. But unlike most other tournaments, Canada splits its tours between two completely different venues.Â
This year, the men’s tour (ATP) will play in Toronto, while the women’s tour (WTA) is in Montreal. The venues flip every year, which means the women will be back in Toronto next year and the men will be in Montreal.Â
This is a 1000-point event for both tours, making it the most significant tour event since Wimbledon. (It’s also just a few weeks before US Open tennis odds kick off at BetMGM.)
For 2025, the total prize money available for the ATP event is $9,193,540. The concurrent WTA event is offering a smaller prize purse, but it still totals $5,152,599.Â
National Bank Open Payout: How Much Prize Money Will the Winner of the Canadian Open Receive?
