The 2023 MLB regular season runs from Thursday, Mar. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 1, and the postseason is scheduled to begin on Oct. 3, with a potential World Series Game 7 on Nov. 4. The location of the World Series games will be split between the home fields of the two contending teams, with home advantage given to the team with the best regular season record.
As was introduced as the postseason format in 2022, the 2023 season will see 12 teams advance to the playoffs — three division winners and three Wild Card teams from each league. Because the top two seeds from each league receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs, a team’s ranking in their division through the regular season is extremely important.
